A fairytale Christmas in a castle
We didn't burn the castle down with the flaming Christmas pudding this Christmas so here's what should be happening and what you might expect if you're already planning ahead for Christmas 2012.
Imagine roaring fires, trees to the ceilings covered in glittering lights, four chimneys for Father Christmas to choose from and one huge dining table heaving with local Christmas delicacies all in a fairytale English castle.

The fun will begin on Christmas Eve with afternoon tea, then maybe carols and mulled drinks before supper. There'll be a festive film in our twelve seat cinema and a trip to midnight mass at the parish church for those who feel up to it followed by a hot toddy before bed.
Christmas Day will start with presents, Bucks Fizz, then a huge breakfast. Later, Christmas cake and tea, then mix your own cocktails before a late lunch which will continue well into the evening and surely singing around the piano, a classic Christmas movie or an impromptu game of charades and late night nibbles will finish everyone off!
After Boxing Day brunch, spend the rest of the day exploring the Lakes or the Yorkshire Dales before returning for cocktails and canapes in the Library and then a fabulous five course dinner.
There'll be a few reluctant good-byes after breakfast on the 27th.
All this for £280 per person per night (minimum three nights)
Children under 12, £80 (when sharing a room with two adults)
Children up to 16 in their own room £200 per night (inc interconnecting rooms)
