What is Augill Castle?

The best B&B in England!  And also a real family home.

Augill Castle is not a conventional hotel, but a family home which welcomes guests. We are proud to have five gold stars for our guest accommodation but hope you won’t come here under any misconception that we offer the same services as a five star hotel. Our stars are for our accommodation and our hospitality, not our facilities.

We are essentially a B&B with alot of extra bells and whistles!

We work hard to retain the castle’s unique family atmosphere, believing this, together with big pillows, large towels, good showers, fresh ground coffee & homemade biscuits to be more important than direct dial telephones, modem ports and trouser presses. But we haven't forsaken the 21st century - there are flat screen TVs with freeview and WiFi covers 90% of the castle!

As a family home that welcomes other families, things can sometimes go slightly bonkers or get forgotten and if this happens, we ask only that you tell us at the time so we can put it right, which we invariably can. We don’t pretend to be perfect and are always learning and striving to improve what we do. We have awards for what we do but we don't do what we do for the awards. We cook in the evenings as often as we can, given that we have no kitchen brigade, do the cooking ourselves and have young children to take care of, but we make no apologies for having nights off.

We are proud to be different and if you are looking for an unconventional, unique place to stay, Augill may be just for you.

We look forward to meeting you and sharing the Augill magic.

"Augill Castle is not like most places... It's hard not to be overwhelmed... But inside the atmosphere is easy going because Wendy & Simon do everything they can to make staying here like spending a weekend with friends"

The Times April 2009

"Augill is a fine essay in early Victorian castle building"
