The Lake District is no longer the exclusive preserve of the middle aged. The country's favourite national park is now the
Adventure Capital of Britain. But with Yorkshire also vying for it's share of the country's adrenaline we're ideally placed to give you the best that both sides of the Pennines have to offer.
As you can see our own big family summer adventure in 2009 was the Via Ferrata at Honister: 1000 feet of vertical climbing on a fixed rope. Awesome.

Whether you want to climb something, jump off something, scramble up waterfalls and gullies, cascade down rivers and canyons, scramble to the top of a mountain, ride over it or immerse yourself deep beneath it, it's all here on our doorstep in either the Lake District, Yorkshire, Durham or Northumberland.
Read what one of Britain's most exciting young adventurers,
Leo Houlding who was brought up in Appleby says about adventure.
Most organised adventure activities are accessible to anyone over the age of ten. There are any number of adventure and high adrenaline activities supervised by qualified instructors with full safety equipment provided. Just look it up, book it and go. We can advise you if you need a nudge in the right direction.
So, if you're visiting the Lakes or Yorkshire with older children or are an adventure junkie yourself, check these sites for information:
