Augill Castle: A very English castle

A slice of genuine, quietly groovy English country house living.

Augill Castle between the Lake District & Yorkshire Dales is neither a conventional hotel nor simply a B&B and, above all else, not a place for taking yourself, us or life too seriously.

We run the castle, our family home, in a modern and informal style with relaxed family friendly service, award winning guest accommodation, honest, imaginative food and a genuine desire to create a comfortable place to unwind.

There is always a divine bed, top quality linen, great shower above a deep bath and a top quality breakfast. We add dinner or supper as an option as often as we can.

The castle, modelled on nearby Lowther Castle, sits between Kirkby Stephen and Appleby in the Eden Valley where the Yorkshire Dales roll down in to Cumbria towards the Lake District.

Anything goes at Augill except hushed tones and false formality.

English Bed & Breakfast of the Year, Favourite British hotel, Best Castle Hotel in England, top Cumbria bed & breakfast, Family Friendly hotel of the Year?

Whichever it is, Augill Castle defies description.
